DHA Dubai Pharmacist Exam Preparation

Clinical pharmacy MCQs, calculation drills and full mock tests for the Dubai Health Authority pharmacist licensing assessment.

Exam overview and eligibility

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) licenses pharmacists who work in Dubai's hospitals, clinics and community pharmacies. Applicants usually apply through DHA's Sheryan licensing portal, complete primary source verification, and then sit a computer-based assessment, delivered through Prometric.

The assessment is multiple choice and clinical in character. Expect therapeutics across the major disease areas, interactions and adverse effects, dose adjustment, calculations, and pharmacy practice and patient safety.

DHA publishes the professional qualification requirements, exam format and pass criteria, and it revises them. Treat its current guidance as the authority on question count, time and eligibility.

Who can sit DHA Dubai Pharmacist Exam

  • A pharmacy degree (Pharm-D, or B.Pharm where the regulator accepts it) from a university recognised by HEC.
  • Current registration with the Pharmacy Council of Pakistan and a recent good standing certificate.
  • Post-qualification experience for some pharmacist titles; how much depends on the regulator and the title you apply for.
  • Primary source verification of your degree, registration and experience, arranged through the regulator.
  • A valid passport. Most regulators activate the licence only once an employer in that country sponsors you.
  • Applications go through DHA's Sheryan portal, and the assessment is booked once DHA approves them.

The regulator's current handbook is the final word on eligibility; check it before you apply.

Syllabus and subject breakdown

What DHA Dubai Pharmacist Exam covers, subject by subject, in order of how much each one carries. The exam's own blueprint is in "At a glance" where the examining body publishes one.

Step-by-step licensing guidance

From paperwork in Pakistan to an active licence. Regulators change these steps, so confirm each one with the official guidance before you pay or book.

  1. 1

    Prepare your Pakistani documents

Collect your Pharm-D or B.Pharm degree and transcripts attested by HEC, your Pharmacy Council of Pakistan registration and a recent good standing certificate, experience letters on employer letterhead with exact dates, and a passport valid well beyond your planned move. Scan everything clearly: every regulator asks for it online.

  2. 2

    Check DHA's qualification requirements

Confirm which pharmacist category you are eligible for and the experience it needs in DHA's current professional qualification requirements.

  3. 3

    Apply through Sheryan

Create an account on DHA's Sheryan licensing portal, submit your application and upload your documents.

  4. 4

    Complete primary source verification

DHA has your degree, registration and experience verified with the issuing bodies. Keep your contact details current so queries do not stall it.

  5. 5

Book and sit the DHA assessment

Once you are approved, book the computer-based assessment, delivered through Prometric, and sit it.

  6. 6

Keep your result and eligibility valid

Exam results and eligibility letters usually expire after a set period, so line up a job offer or licence activation in time. Check how long your result stays valid and how many attempts you are allowed before you book.

  7. 7

Activate the licence with your employer

Most regulators issue the full licence once an employer in that country sponsors you. Keep copies of every certificate and receipt: they are needed again for the visa and for licence renewals.

Preparation tips and strategies

A step-by-step plan for DHA Dubai Pharmacist Exam, from first revision to the last mock test.

  1. 1

    Check the DHA requirements first

Confirm the pharmacist category you are eligible for and the experience it needs, then begin your application and verification while you study.

  2. 2

    Rebuild clinical pharmacology first

Gulf licensing exams are mostly clinical. Start with pharmacology and pharmacotherapy of the big areas: cardiovascular, diabetes, infections, respiratory, CNS and pain. Practise them until your accuracy is consistently above 70%.

  3. 3

    Practise calculations every day

Dosing, creatinine clearance, dilutions, infusion rates and pharmacokinetic questions are quick marks if you are fluent and expensive if you are not. Ten calculation MCQs a day for the whole preparation period is enough.

  4. 4

    Learn interactions, monitoring and counselling

Expect case-style questions: which interaction matters, what to monitor, which drug to avoid in pregnancy, renal impairment or the elderly, and what to tell the patient. Read the explanation for every miss.

  5. 5

Sit full timed mocks in the last month

In the final four weeks, take a full-length mixed mock test every few days under exam timing, then spend the next session on the topics it exposed.

Sample DHA Dubai Pharmacist Exam MCQs

Try a few original practice questions, then continue in the full question bank.

  1. 1Which statin is least affected by CYP3A4 inhibitors such as clarithromycin?

    • ASimvastatin
    • BAtorvastatin
    • CLovastatin
    • DPravastatin
    Show answer and explanation

    Answer: D. Pravastatin

Pravastatin is not significantly metabolised by CYP3A4. Simvastatin and lovastatin are the most affected, and atorvastatin moderately so.

  2. 2Rapid intravenous infusion of which antibiotic commonly causes 'red man' syndrome?

    • ACeftriaxone
    • BVancomycin
    • CAzithromycin
    • DMeropenem
    Show answer and explanation

    Answer: B. Vancomycin

Vancomycin given too quickly releases histamine, causing flushing and rash of the upper body. Slowing the infusion (typically over at least 60 minutes) prevents it.

  3. 3Below which eGFR is metformin contraindicated?

    • A60 mL/min/1.73 m²
    • B45 mL/min/1.73 m²
    • C30 mL/min/1.73 m²
    • D15 mL/min/1.73 m²
    Show answer and explanation

    Answer: C. 30 mL/min/1.73 m²

Metformin is contraindicated below an eGFR of 30 because of the risk of lactic acidosis. Starting it is not recommended at 30–45, and an existing dose is reviewed.

DHA Dubai Pharmacist Exam FAQs

Can I take the DHA exam from Pakistan?

DHA assessments are delivered through approved test centres, and candidates often sit them outside the UAE. Check the current DHA guidance for where and how the exam can be booked.

The knowledge tested is very similar, clinical pharmacy, pharmacology and calculations, but each regulator runs its own licence, eligibility rules and exam. Prepare from the same clinical base and check the rules of the emirate you are applying to.

Are these real exam questions?

No. Licensing exam content is confidential, and PharmaPrep does not use recalled or leaked questions. Every MCQ is original practice material written around the same clinical and pharmaceutical knowledge the exam tests.
